    Panamerenko (1940-2019) is a contemporary Belgian artist known for his mixed-media sculptures of airplanes, zeppelins and flying saucers that bear witness to great technical insight and an unbridled feel for the fantastic.

    Despite being modeled after aerodynamic engineering, Panamerenko's works are not necessarily capable of flight—an irony deliberately invoking the sentiment found in the myth of Icarus. But he remains steadfast in his search for technical solutions to help him achieve his ultimate utopia – human-powered propulsion and flight.
