Dorothy Bridges (Worcester, Massachusetts, 19 september1915 – Los Angeles, 16 februari2009) was een Amerikaanseactrice.
De ouders van Bridges waren afkomstig uit Liverpool, Engeland. Wanneer ze twee jaar oud was, verhuisde het gezin naar Los Angeles. Op de toneelafdeling van de Universiteit van Californië leerde ze haar latere man Lloyd Bridges kennen. Ze trouwden in 1938 en kregen een dochter en drie zonen samen.
Dorothy Bridges maakte op zesjarige leeftijd haar acteerdebuut in de film Finders Keepers uit 1921. Met haar man Lloyd studeerde ze drama in New York, totdat hij een contract kreeg in Hollywood. Twee zonen werden ook acteurs, Beau Bridges en Jeff Bridges, alsook enkele kleinkinderen, onder wie haar kleinzoon Jordan Bridges. Zijzelf acteerde voornamelijk in producties waaraan haar familie meewerkte. Zo was ze te zien in de televisieserie Sea Hunt met haar man in de hoofdrol en in de film See You in the Morning naast haar zoon Jeff. Verder speelde ze ook een rol in twee door haar zoon Beau geregisseerde tv-films The Thanksgiving Promise en Secret Sins of the Father.
In 2005 bracht ze op 89-jarige leeftijd haar memoires You Caught Me Kissing: A Love Story uit.[1]

Dorothy Bridges, actress and mother of actors Beau and Jeff Bridges, died Feb. 16 in Los Angeles. She was 93.
Bridges was married to actor Lloyd Bridges for 60 years until his death in 1998.
Born in Worchester, Mass, she made her screen debut at the age of 6 in “Finders Keepers.” While attending UCLA, she met Lloyd Bridges while appearing in a play and they married in 1938.
The couple studied acting in New York before returning to Hollywood when Lloyd Bridges was signed to a contract at Columbia.
At the age of 89, she published the memoir “You Caught Me Kissing.”
Born Dorothy Simpson and sometimes credited as Dorothy Dean, she continued acting occasionally, appearing in an episode of Lloyd Bridges’ “Sea Hunt” TV series and in 1986 TV movie “The Thanksgiving Promise” directed by Beau Bridges. She also appeared in 1989’s “See You in the Morning” with Jeff Bridges and 1993’s “Secret Sins of the Father,” directed by Beau Bridges and featuring several family members.
She is survived by sons Beau and Jeff; daughter Lucinda; 11 grandchildren including actors Jordan, Casey, Dylan and Emily; two great-grandchildren and a brother.
