    Best known to American audiences for her role opposite Keanu Reeves in the 1995 romantic drama "A Walk in the Clouds," Aitana Sanchez-Gijon is a well-known Spanish-Italian actress who has appeared in over 50 films and TV programs. She first appeared on-screen in the 1986 Spanish melodrama "Romanza final," and soon landed roles in such films as "Jarrapellejos" and "The Sea and the Weather." Sanchez-Gijon, who is the goddaughter of actor Rafael Alberti, worked steadily throughout the 1990s and landed a breakout role opposite Keanu Reeves as a pregnant and abandoned woman in "A Walk in the Clouds." She later appeared as a mysteriously beautiful woman in the romantic drama "The Chambermaid on the Titanic," and as a woman on the run from her drug dealer boyfriend in "Leaving no Trace."     Aitana Sánchez-Gijón was born in Rome on 5 November 1968,[1] to a Spanish father Ángel Sánchez-Gijón Martínez [es], a history lecturer exiled from Francoism, and an Italian mother, Fiorella de Angelis, a lecturer.[2] She was named after Aitana Alberti,[n. 1]Rafael Alberti's daughter.[2][3] The latter dedicated Aitana Sánchez-Gijón some verses upon her birth.[2] The family moved to Madrid when she was 1 year old.[3]
